Brakes Locking Up
When I first take off, and hit my brake pedal for the first time, my brakes lockup. It is usually pretty epic, and really makes me mad. If you have a drink in your hand, it will be in your lap.
Any ideas on what is causing this, and how can I fix it? It is super annoying.

Could just be excessive brake dust buildup in rear drums. You need to pull rear drums to inspect. Get some brake clean and give them a good cleaning. Make sure there is no oil on shoes from possible seal leakage.

Mine does the exact thing, if breathe on the pedal, the rears lock up. I think that moisture gets on the drum and pads and creates too much friction. I have the habit of very lightly riding the brakes to heat them up a bit first thing in the AM. It only happens to me during rain and cold. Yeah, you are right, it is super annoying!

Sounds like typical wet/humid weather flash rusting of the drums overnight.
About the only thing you can do about it is to be aware and lightly ride the brakes first thing to wipe the rust off.
Or you could move to the desert

Mine do the same, however it's my front rotors that usually build up with small rust particles. I just ride the brakes while putting along in my driveway for a bit and brake real easy for a couple concessions.

Mine tend to do that also. I have found that tightening up the rear brake adjustment to where it should be helps to alleviate this. Doesn't solve it completely but is pretty good about making them better. Also stops better. Apparently the self adjusters don't self adjust so well.

i was having the same problem, since we have the hydroboost brakes that are run off the power steering pump, i checked the fluid in the PS pump and sure enough it was a bit low, filled it up and no more brake issues. hope this works for you guys too! Kodi

I think it's mostly due to the condensation as everyone is talking about. Even after a rain I can look at my front rotors and see rust. Sure they need replacing, but that is another story.
Maybe we should start spraying fine mists of water on our brakes instead of installing GM Brake Plungers, lol.
