brake controller
ive got the truck in my sig is my daily driver but im getting ready to haul with it and im looking for a moderate brake controller nothing fancy that will handle a tandem axle? and also ive heard they have a factory harness that you can just plug the controller into, is this true?

If it has the tow package, it will have a connector to plug into it.
Technocia P3 or prodigy (sp?) I think is regarded as one of the better of the moderate priced units.
Up from there are the Brakesmart and Maxbrake, which actuate off of brake fluid pressure and are exceptionally smooth.

I'm a fan of the P-3 as well, Tekonsha should have released the new version of the prodigy by now it is the Prodigy P-2 Southwest wheel is one of the sponsors to this site and offers a discount like posted be sure to get the factory plug-n-play harness to go with it.

One more vote for the Prodigy. I tow ~30% of the time and couldn't justify the extra expense of a Brakesmart or Maxbrake. The Prodigy has never let me down. I would classify it as the best "bang for the buck".

Two moderate controls that should be available in the next couple of weeks are the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 and the Valley Raptor. The Prodigy P2 takes the original and the P3 to a whole new level and the Valley Raptor is way out of the box.

was looking at southwest wheels BrakeController.com site and trying to decide between the soon to come out Valley Raptor or the Hayes G2. Really would like a maxbrake but the funds are not there and my Jorden is dead. Would love some opinions and dont say P3 because I always do things a little different. Since so "many" sheople just love their P3 I'll look for something else.

Yes, the MaxBrake is expensive, but every time you tow a trailer, you'll swear its the best money you've ever spent. There are MANY times that I forgot I was towing a trailer because of how smooth and controlled it is. I have had friends ride with me and turn around to make sure we were still towing a trailer because they could not feel any push/pull or jerking from the trailer.

Isn't it amazing? I was floored. I've been selling brake controllers all my adult life and on this site I've heard people say to "stop fooling around, get a brake smart, get a max brake". I couldn't imagine what the big deal is. A brake controller is pretty much a brake controller no who makes it. Oh sure, some work better than others, but they're all pretty much the same. WRONG! I got the Max brake and could not believe the difference. There is so much more braking control, so much smoother, no jerking. Just amazing. I think, even for the occassional hauler, the top of the line brake controllers are well worth the money.

I got the Max brake and could not believe the difference. There is so much more braking control, so much smoother, no jerking. Just amazing. I think, even for the occassional hauler, the top of the line brake controllers are well worth the money.
