brake/abs question???
brake/abs question???
On our trip to oregon we noticed a fairly loud clicking comming from what seems to be the right front wheel. Its definatly in sync with the tire rotation and dosent go away when the brakes are applied. I was thinking we were loosing a wheel bearing but I jacked it up and spinning it, it sounds OK. Also occasionally the ABS and also the brake light would flash on for a second. Im gonna tear it down tonight, but Im not to savvy on ABS issues. Any Ideas??
Well it actually did it once before on a trip. it seems it has to be driven a lot before it starts in. I tore both sides down this pm and no signs of anything. Im beginning to wonder, but as I mentioned the brake and ABS light came on this time.
As dodgenstein mentioned above, ABS is rear wheel on a 93. If the bearings look good, and there's nothing in the tires, then I'm at a loss to explain it. were the hubs completely unlocked? Maybe that's it. Good luck with it though.
You can also disconnect the ABS connector behind the Glove Box for 10 or 20 seconds to reset the ABS. Doesn't hurt to have the battery disconnected also to reset everything.
Brake light also comes on if you have a bad Vacuum Switch located on the Drivers fender under the hood right at the Hood bracket. If you get below 8.5 HG? it will cause Brake light to go on. Mine was rusty underneath the switch and needed to replace.
