BOTH hood hinges broken....a common problem?

BOTH of my hood hinges are broken at the center pivot. Is this common or am I the only one?

The hood is very difficult to lift and (obviously) won't stay up. The broken area does not leave much metal to weld it back so I would not be confident of it being a lasting repair.

If it's a common problem then a junkyard replacement would just be a Band-aid... Any permanent fixes out there?

Thanks!

Dave

Yours is the very first one I've ever heard of.
Maybe someone had it flip open while driving and weakened it.
Should be an easy junkyard find as the gasser hoods are the same.
