It plugs into the MAP sensor, and doesn't allow the ECM to see excess boost. For example (numbers may not be 100% correct, but used for example only): Reading from MAP sensor of 1V = 10 psi, 2V = 20 psi, 2.3V = 23 psi. When ECM sees 2.3V from MAP sensor, it defuels the engine to reduce boost. Boost fooler doesn't allow anything above 2V to be sent thru to the ECM, effectively "fooling" the ECM into not defueling.

Before I added the boost fooler and J-hook, and just had the Superchips programmer, my truck would zip to 2500 RPM or so, then fall flat on its face until it shifted, RPMs lowered, and then it would build boost agin. Now it pulls right until it shifts, like you would expect it should. I think w/Superchiops alone, the added fuel = added boost = easier to see peak boost = earlier and harsher defueling happened. And the defueling happened a couple of hundred RPMs before the truck shifted, leaving a kind of dead spot in the power as I had it floored and it ran through the gears.
