Bluish/White Smoke...

Appears when first starting in the morning and taking off...

Or when the truck sits and idles for a while...

Clears right up after a puff...

What do you guys think?

No cat, so that might have been trapped if one was present?

Slipped timing and/or low fuel pressure will cause blue/white smoke.

when the engine is warming up, a little white blue smoke is normal especially in cold temps. also, a little white blue smoke is normal when you first get on it after extended periods of idle.

I'm not saying you have a problem, but, my truck did the blue smoke at start up for the past few winters, and I assumed it was normal as well. Recently changed out lift pump, overflow, and fuel filter as pressure was getting low and with my miles on the truck it was about due.

No more blue smoke at start up. KD

Timing was reset awhile ago, still had the blue smoke even after the advancing timing. The new overflow and lift pump seemed to do it. KD

I think it may be time for me to run over the fuel system...

Thanks for the input.

I also eliminated the multiple connection points on the fuel lines. I started with the steel lines along the frame, cut and flaired them, ran rubber lines from the steel lines at the fram up to the steel lines at the engine. That got rid of the braided sections with the push on connectors, and it got rid of the short solid steel tubes at the bellhousing at those connection points.

It now makes changing those lines allot easier, and any potential leaks from those joints. Don't forget the short rubber hose (90* bend) that connects the prefilter to the lift pump and use new sealing washers on everything. KD

ok i was driving the my 12 valve and it seems liks im losing top end power, so today i punched it and and it down shifted to seccond gear (4.10 ratio) and it poured out white/blue smoke and does not rev past 2250 rpm with it to the floor...whats wrong? it shoots out white/blue smoke every time you floor it now
