Blown Engine Help / Core Value Canadian.
A friend of mine has an 2005. Cyl #6 injector went out on him and took out Cyl #6. So he is looking at re-sleeving the cylinder new piston ring etc. He has a salvaged engine bought and ready to be installed. They said the price would be about the same maybe even a little more with all the machine work to repair the engine in his truck. Now his biggest concern is what is his core worth? Does anyone here want it? 96,000 km's on it and Chrysler would not warranty it due to lack of maintenance records. It was maintained, just lack of records. Also, he might be interested in another engine, because the salvaged engine came from a water damaged truck. No idea if water actually got into engine. Anyone know of an engine that will work in his 05. I think he said he has an auto tranny if that matters. Prefer to buy from western Canada because he needs his truck for work yesterday kinda situation...... Thanks.

Sorry I can't help.
I've often wondered of a day if and when I were to wreck my CR 5.9, I'd be tempted to try a 12V swap. I think that would be a sweet rig.
3rd Gen style and comfort, 12V mileage and longevity.

No sleeves in the 5.9. I would just run the salvage engine you have. Drop the pan and remove the valve cover to get out any water that might be in it; it should be fine.

Are you sure you're out of luck on maintaince. Generally on declining warranty the lack of maintaince is a contributing or the cause of failure. Don't beleive Chrysler can say no on injector failue. Wht did you not do that caused failure? Has it been reprogramed or chiped and you not mentioning that fact? Get an attorney.

The cores aren't worth much right now, I just sold a few for $200 each. Granted they were to a bulk core buyer and not a builder but compared to a 7.3 or a good GM 6.5 they aren't worth much.

That #6 cylinder must be real bad if it needs a sleeve. And making sure everything is right putting it back together takes time. The other motor would be a faster fix.
Neighbor bought a truck from the fire dept that caught in flood waters, not running when it went under. Drained everything, new fluids and 2 bottles of power service Kleen in a clean fuel tank, trucks been running since.
