Just for kicks and giggles, I check mine yesterday morning. It was about 4am, the truck had been "plugged in" (I use a timer) for about 4 hours. It was about 40 degrees outside. I used my infrared thermometer and checked it on the engine head and the thermometer read 111 degrees.

DMH, you have got to put that IR temp checker thing away man! 
Your neighbors are starting to talk about you! I heard you were out two nights ago pointing that thing at trees, dogs, cats, stars.

If its really cold and you want warm air blowing almost immediately, you need to be plugged in 3-4 hours minimum. On weekends, I just keep it plugged in without the timer.

You guys are just CHEAP 
When it's cold enough around here I just plug it in and don't worry about the electric bill
Come on guys, letting the thing be plugged in and warming up the truck will not hurt it because the darn thing runs much hotter than that normally.

Definately cheaper to plug it in all the time than drive it with fuel at 2 clams a gallon !!! Just think you can get Dodge's hybrid in a few years and power your neighbors houses to pay for the fuel !!

It wasn't just the fact that I was pointing the temp checker at everything, it was the lazer pointer that came with the thing. All the neighbors got real excited about having the red dot shining on their inside walls. Only paid about $40 for it from Sears.Besides that, I found the cheapest way to keep my truck plugged at night is to plug it into the neighbors outside outlet.
