Smile Block Heater...

Hi Guys

I just finished most of the rewiring and new batterys ... I did plug in the block heater for the first time ... It did sound like it was working ... Tonight is going to be in the low twenty's .
At what temps do you guys recomend pluging in the 12 valve and how long ... I was doing 3hrs with my 7.3 ... I know the elements are like a 1000 watts .
Thanks guys .

Greg

Mine's on a 3 hour timer for the morning commute. If I'm in and out throughout the day and it's real cold, I try and plug it in while I'm home to maintain temps.

Smile Re: Heater...

The only harm for me would be in my pocket ...I was doing the all night plug for a month with my other diesel ... my power bill jumped like 40 bucks ... I'll give the 3 hr pluging a shot .

Thanks Guys

I use a timer as well, but don't ussually plug it in unless it will be less than 40* out. My truck will start right up at 35* without even needing to wait for the light on the dash to go out.
