Do the engines come with one already installed and all you have to do run the power cord or do you need to install the whole thing. I ran into a guy that had either an 06 or an 07 and he said that he thought that the truck had one and all you had to do was attach a power cord to it.

yes it comes on the truck..if you buy the cord from dodge it is 62 bucks if you buy it from cummins it is 15 bucks

The block heater is in the motor when built. The cord is a $10 option. I just ordered mine and it shows up on the build sheet but didn't cost anything. Hope the dealer didn't mess-up. Dodge sells just the cord but don't know the price.

Plugs into the motor behind the oil filter on the passenger side. there should be a screw in cap there now, just remove that and plug in the cord.

Can any of you give me a cummins part number. I went to the cummins dealership and the parts man said they couldn't look up the engines that are in the dodges as they are locked out of those but they can look up part numbers. The cord that the book showed was $15 dollars but they didn't know which heater it would work with. Thanks

You can lay on the ground and remove the cover and install the cord with no problem then just run it along the frame towards the front of the truck.

ALL THE CORDS ARE THE SAME. yOU SHOULD NOT NEED A PART #. I went in a couple of days after getting my 08 and the guy just grabbed one off the shelf. Worked just fine.

Just tell them it's a common rail ISB and they'll know what you want. I removed the air duct and it was very easy to reach. I routed it along the battery cable then around the airbox and dropped it in front of the bulkhead. It's really accessible and hangs out of the way when not plugged in.

Check the classifieds on this sight, I got mine there to my door in 5 days for $17. The plug should be round with two holes, and a metal tab bent over the edge. It should all be held in place by a ring that compresses it in to the hole. It took 5 minutes to put it in from under the truck and zip tie it on the frame to the front bumper.

I went by the dealership to see what the cord cost since I was driving right by it to just see what they would want for it. The parts lady said it was 82 dollars. I asked her if I looked like I walked in with a jar of vaseline in my hand and walked out.
