Blend door actuator?

Just verifing what I'm pretty sure about...

My A/C is always on defrost, when I crawl under the dash and move the arm myself it goes to, and stays at the dash vents. If I pull off the vaccum line I can feel it sucking. That means my acuator is bad, right? How much does one run, and how hard is it to change? It looks pretty easy, but looks can be decieving.

Here's something to check, my '92 had a vac leak at the brake booster...the air went to defrost and the cruise control quit working too until I changed out the power brake booster.

There is vaccum at the acuator though... That is leading me to believe that it is not a vaccum issue.

If it moves freely by hand and you've got good vac, I'd say its a safe bet that you've got a bad actuator.

I guess the only thing I could add is to suggest that you add a gauge to the line and see exactly how much vac you got.

I've had slight issues with mine (directional sticks a little so I always get air from the defrost vent). This is because of some chafing on the vacuum line.

I think you're supposed to have 15 - 20 HG but if someone could verify that it would be great.

my truck pulls more than 15-20, I'd say that is the BARE minimum..

I had to replace mine, and I forget, but it was less than 30 bucks.

I figured it would be a pretty cheap part... I'm guessing it was fairly easy to swap out? Gracias.

In my situation, it was just awkward, since it is right above the tranny hump, on the left side. There were only 2 screws, and some kind of clip or knotch for the rod, but getting to them was the pain.

That's the bugger... I was figurin it was just the 2 screws, and the tab for the rod. If it was a pain for some reason I was thinking I would just have a shop do it.

It didn't take me to long at all to swap it out. Prob 15 min... Thanks Stamey, like the haircut

It was $38, dealer only, if anyone else is having the same problem.
