Billet cap leaks, what's up?

I installed the glacier lift pump system this weekend and geno's billet fuel filter canister lid, the lid screwed on tight and leak awful when I started the truck, only reason I got it was because I thought the plastic one wouldn't hold up with the extra pressure. I am seeing 17-18 psi at idle and will adjust it to 25-30 for my floor it pump I am getting. Will the stock plastic lid hold 30 psi? Anybody have this experience with the billet cap? Thanks, Jay

Sorry to state the obvious but, you did put the rubber O-ring on the cap right ?
If so, then you may have it cross threaded or are you sure the plug is in the cap ?

I'm being a smart aleck either, but did you install your pressure gauge in this new cap, was it that model?
and if you didn't install your gauge there could it be leaking from the gauge port? is that the kind of cap you bought?

I don't have the billet cap but I have heard of several issues with them, you will be fine with 30 psi on the plastic cap, mine been seeing 23-25 psi for two years now with no problems

Billet lid

Yeah I put the rubber seal on and no it's not leaking from the sender port it was gushing out around the threads, I know what happened it didn't thread right. I screwed it in tight and did it 3 times to make sure the threads were lined up right it just wouldn't screw it all the way. I think the threads don't match those on the canister, I didn't go gorilla on it because I didn't want to mess up the canister threads. Anybody else using one of these billet lids? Thanks, Jay. Oh and yeah that's the lid.

I'm using the same lid. Because of the way the filter slides up into the lid, if you don't do that before putting the lid on, it will be easy cross thread.

Try installing the filter into the lid and then installing the lid and the filter together. What I always do when I'm not sure if I have the threads lined up is, turn it the opposite way. You can feel the threads line up and then start threading it on the right way.

I've had mine on for several months without a problem. Beware of the ports cap also. It doesn't come screwed down all the way. I found that out when I had a big leak. I just screwed the cap down all the way and had no more problems.

One problem you will find if you use the port for your fuel pressure. The new 7 microns filters completely fill the cap to where no fuel can get to the port. A quick fix is to cut little notches into the filter around the edge that fits into the SS lid. That way, the fuel can flow. I was having problems with my FP gauge not working. I found no fuel was coming out of the lid. After cutting the notches.... it's all good.

If you didn't put a NEW O-ring on it then that may be your problem. If you pulled it off the plastic lid to reuse it you probably stretched it. When I took the billet lid off my 03 and put it on the 07 I tried reusing the o-ring from the 07 because it was brand new. It leaked like crazy. I had to go buy a brand new filter just to get the o-ring. Put it on and all has been well ever since....

I did mount the filter on the lid first. I will try the screwing counterclockwise at first to see if I can feel the threads catch when turning clockwise. I don't have the energy to do it right now, with the first lid leak the little walbro flooded my garage! The GFS 392 went on without a hitch, awesome setup and no leaks. I did have a small leak at first on top of the filter mount where I placed the brass plug but it tightened up nicely and now no leak. I can't even hear that pump. Guess I am ready for the cp3, 66 turbo and flux 3's

Pardon my ignorance here but i've been thinking hard about the GDP kit and running a fuel gauge right along with it. When you guys run your fuel gauge does the line run into the cab somewhere?

Also where are you running your gauges, location wise?

Right now I tapped into the supply line to the cp3 from the bottom of the fuel filter canister, when I install my 2 micron kit I am going to plumb the tee for the pressure line right before my floor it cp3. Jay
