What does the inside look like? I have read of guys saying 50K miles and still looks good but I have no idea. Mine is not that old, but I wonder how long they last as well.
I guess if it is freeway driving and not a lot of dusty, sandy riding and using the outerwear's it would last for some time.

I put 2 years and 40K on mine without a prefilter. When I replaced it, I compared the old to the new by looking at the inside of each. There was a noticeable difference in how much light was allowed to pass through each. I installed an outerwears prefilter on the new bhaf.

I know that a lot of people do it but it is a general reccomendation to not used compressed air on air filters and says so in some maintenance logs becuase it can damage the media causing it to flow considerably less air.

I'm at around 30K. It looks pretty good on the inside still.
Who sells the "outerwears"?
I have also read not to use compressed air on these because when the air carries out the debris it can damage the filter media creating gaps that will let larger particles pass thru.

I've got 25K miles on mine. Added the Outerwears at some point in the middle. I pull it off every oil change to access the filter easier. Blow off the Outerwears and whack the filter against the tire a few times to knock some of the dust out and throw it back on. Still seems to be doing just fine.

OldDodgeOwner, I pretty much do the same thing and it still looks really clean on the inside. I think I'll get the outerwears to help keep the larger stuff out of the filter folds.
Thanks, guys!
