Thumbs down BFG Rugged Trails WORST TIRES EVER!!!

GAWD do I HATE these tires Im very sad to say that I've been jerked out of a mud puddle 3 times this week....Twice by a chevy and once by a ford Im not talking axle-deep rutted up mud holes either....I'm talking inch deep mud on a red clay farm road after 15 minutes of rain....I am happy to say that one ford that tried to pull me had the same tires as mine and got himself stuck too...Rugged Trail my happy ****....These things couldnt pull a golf-kart across a fairway.....Seriously....I've had to drop it in 4-hi in my yard cause these spin on morning dew.....So Im off to the tire store cause this trash has got to go......Thanx for allowing me to vent...

Yep!! These trucks are the worst in the clay/mud! You might as well get you some real MUD Tires and have at it! Definatly need something that will clean out really good to keep traction in that kind of gunk!!! I have been stuck in 2" of slop after a real hard rain and the truck wouldnt go anywhere for quite a while! I had to hammer it to get some traction because the tires were clogged!! JB

Ditto.

I got stuck in the parking lot at Brighton Ski Resort and they had to dig/push me out.

Less than 100 miles later I had the 295 Toyo M/T's.

it doesnt help that we have limited slip also. If these locker companys would get off their rumps and make some lockers for us we wouldnt have such a bad problem. I only have a 2WD, but when i get stuck in 2" of sand (over gravel road) because only 1 of my wheels are spinning i get ticked off. one day i remove my rear diff cover and had my welder ready to weld the spidergears together before my wife stopped me.

I've got the Generals on my dually and they are much less aggressive than the Rugged Trails. I was very afraid to back into my yard to hook up to the trailer because even my 03 SRW w/ BFG ATs would spin the tires and tear the yard up. Well, it must be the trans because the dually never spun a bit even in wet grass. I think the auto just lets the tires spin too quickly right out of the box.

Y'all should try the Michelin LTX A/S on wet grass. Guaranteed you won't be going anywhere.

Wet Grass?? Shoot you'll be stuck on dry grass with those, if you can even get there before the sidewall cracks appear.

No problems with cracking, but also I can't wear them out!

I stuck it out with the Rugged Trail's for 23,000 mi. I hated 'em for anything but clean pavement. Another irritation is that they pick up pea gravel worse than any tire I've ever had. I even put on mud flaps because I was sick of them chucking rocks down the side of the truck and I HATE mudflaps. Found a deal on some Cooper ATR's and now I'm happy.

They just need to re-label the BFG's to "Rugged Highway" and we'll be all set.

I'm happy with the BFG's for highway, but you are correct, they aren't an offroad tire.

Well said. Guys, you gotta remember, they're tryin' to move 4 tons of truck.
the old standard chevy 1/2 ton with a 350 would do much better with the
same tires. Not sayin' it'd be anything to brag about,but......better.
