Best way to Flush Coolant

I'm going to be flushing my coolant. After reading all the posts, I'm going to flush it with tap water, then I'd like to blow it out w/ compressed air prior to refilling.

If I remove the lower radiator hose to flush, what's the best place to put the garden hose for flushing so to get maximum effect? Same question for blowing it out w/ compressed air. Thanks again guys.

Also, is an additive necessary (or recommended) due to the tap water flush?

When I did mine a few weeks ago, I unhooked both the lower and upper radiator hoses and stuck a garden hose down the block where the t-stat sits. Let it run til the water was clear and did the additive thing (cleaner and neutralizer from Orileys). All in all it took about 3 to 4 hrs cuz you gotta let the engine cool before flushing cool water through it.

This is my first time doing this...diesel or otherwise. Are my procedures correct?

Drain the radiator, flush until clear
Warm up the engine until the thermostat opens, flush interior of engine from upper radiator hose
Reattach hoses, fill radiator

Do I need to add a conditioner since the interior of my engine is now filled with tap water?

Does it explain how to do this in the owners manual?
