Ditch the carrier and put in a 1 piece drive shaft. You'll end up having to replace the carrier in 50k or so miles.

The vast majority of people on this site are going to tell you, the best way is to switch to a one piece driveshaft.

I just bought my 1 peice yesterday. (bit pricey $$ but worth it I guess long term)

But I would like to fix my old 2 peice for reselling. Is the carrier a dealer only part? I can't find it online.

Does it just slide off the shaft once the middle ujoint is removed?

Well, I have +150K and its just now a problem so thats probbaly not a valid statement.

The stupid bearing seems to be OE only, expensive, and cheap to boot. A one piece drive shaft even at twice the price is probably a good option.

Any idea what that bearing costs? I searched everywhere on the forums.

My 2 peice driveshaft might turn into a corner fencepost if it costs more to fix it.

Best price I have seen is $180 plus shipping thru Dodgeparts.com, add whatever they want to press it on and off and its probably going to be close to $250.

A one piece is is around $550.

No one has really answered CPRD's question about best way to change the Carrier.

Another forum I've read says it has to be pressed on and off? That doesn't sound like fun.

Yes I saw your Tom Addis and CDA, hello neighbor. I just saw on another forum that Dodge replaced all his U joints under the 7/70 warranty. Not sure if I have that warranty but will check it out.

I ended up taking my 04s whole driveshaft into napa and they pressed that bad boy off. while they was at it, i had them replace all ujoints with the brute force greasables.
