Best tire for 2 wheel drive
I'm looking for new tires for my truck. I want something that has
a pretty agressive tread , because we go camping in some
primitive locations. I have a 6500# travel trailer so I need D or E load
rating. I have LT265R16 right now, can I go up to LT685R16 on a 2 wheel
drive ? I do have the 1.5 inch leveling kit in front.

Aggresive thread..
Hmmmm i would say go with a mudgrip tire, but IMHO, unless they are 10 ply ull go thru them quick, and if u do alot of highway travelin, a good AT is a better bargain.. NOt bashin the mudgrips tho, but that is the primary reason i dont have them.
You should be able to stuff 285s under there, i have the liberators from wally world, SURPRISINGLY GOOD off the beaten path, tried them in rootplow, axle deep mud, sand, and some rocks and ledges, with a lil persuasion they fling some mudd.... I had BFGS prior, and i think that the libbys have much better traction off the road.. seriously..
A nice lookin semi aggressive tire is the cooper STT, or ST, i believe, and the price is not too bad, u might wanna look into those... it would be my choice for a 2wd, and heck they might even be my next set in mine..
Best of luck!!
Tx

I'm thinking my next set is gonna be the Cooper ST... I want some MT's but I drive to much to get them when I don't really do a lot of off mud...
I have a buddy that has had three sets of the ST on his Super Duty, and he likes them in the mud, and has gotten 50k out of all three sets. He runs 285s.

I believe they will fit on a 2wd. It would be a tight fit, maybe slight rub on stering lock...
Most tire shops would test fit a set, cycle the steering and suspension, and then you would know for sure that they will fit your truck, as what will fit most will not fit all and vice versa sometimes...

The Toyo M55 are supposed to be a tough tire, though a little lacking in off road grip...
I had a set of Toyo Open Country A/T on my Dakota a few years back. Loved them. Still debating getting a set of Toyo's for this truck in a few months...
