Seems that lately I am frequently turning wrenches on the truck. I want to get a repair manual that can help me out in times of need.

It seems that the Chilton and Haynes are the ones that you always see for these trucks but there might be more. Which repair manual do you prefer for the CTD?

i agree, stay away from Haynes or Chiltons. they have too much useless information like how to put air in your tires[laugh]

Has anybody had any luck with the electronic versions on ebay? For how cheap they are I figure they either don't have very good information or they're all pirated...

I have both the FSM and the Haynes......stay away from the Haynes if it is going to be your only man. The FSM is great.

FSM is the only one worth anything- Haynes, chiltons, clymer all reuse general info and have much less information.

Many CD's on fleebay are factory that could have been pirated or could be legit... if it's under $50 odds are it's not legit.

Most CD manuals I have seen are terrible. Mediocre scans, tough to use and scan through to find what you need, and unless you have a computer right in the garage or laptop you don't mind getting dirty under the hood you'll be printing pages every time you need to work on the truck.

Factories are going to CD (Gm is ALL cd now) because most dealers have service bay computers for diagnostic use anyway, so all manuals are right there at his fingers.

Factory manual all the way. Been turning wrenches a long time and haynes/chilton suck compared to factory stuff especially when you have to start chasing a wire problem.

Manual is the best, sit it on the fender, in the cab with ya. I've got factory manuals back to 1992. As long as you take care of them they'll be around for years and years.

Just my thoughts- I work in that industry. Chrysler does prosecute unlicensed copies of their property very aggressively.
If they find it they'll have the host shut down at minimum, if they catch you, it's a big deal. Financial issues or no, they don't mess around with that.

Chrysler is very vigilant when it comes to manuals on ebay,
that's why you don't see them their very often and when you do they disappear fast.
