Best Programmer for extra MPG

I'm drivin' a 2005 Quad Cab Short-box Auto 4x4, 3:73. I am thinking about venturing into the mysterious world of power programmers. I understand the warranty risks and I am not looking to beat the truck, just improve it. I pull a 30 foot travel trailer with it quite a bit and I drive the truck everyday to work. I am looking for a programmer that will help with towing but I am more interested in increasing fuel economy ($3.00 / gallon this morning - OUCH!)

What's out there for fuel economy? What's the best bang for the buck?

maybe you could put your location, and someone who lives near you may be nice enough to let you try one for yourself.

Edge EZ is not a programmer but ive had good luck with it. I've also heard that the Quad XZT is a good choice but its not a prog. Both of them are good products if you can keep your foot out of it!!!

When you find that guy that lets you borrow his pass it my way when your done

I was thinking about calling up Dr. Performance (dealt with them plenty with my brakesmart) and seeing if he will let me "try" out one of their chips, heck considering I have another brakesmart controller just sitting here (2 got shipped cause of an error) and the guy "isnt too worried when he gets it back" maybe I can arrange something

But back on topic I also tow daily and would like something for better MPG...

The Quad Race I recently installed has caused a noticeable increase in city driving - looks to be a solid 2 mpg so far - on PL1.

Maybe if it was to someone I knew sure but at the same time I think I would feel a bit strange even asking someone I didnt know to loan it to me. Now as for distributors now while its not EXPECTED it would be nice if more of them did it heck take down their CC number for a deposit or whatever and your good to go only bad thing I could see about that would be someone swapping out a bad for a good one..

See now spending some decent money and getting 2-3 MPG more would be worth it to me, I average around 2k miles a week so well it wouldnt take long at all for the thing to pay for itself not only that a few extra horses wouldnt be a bad thing either.

Now would that mean even better for HWY driving?

My predator on performance level gives an extra 100 miles to the tank. I have the programmer off for the last two tanks of fuel, and noticed this.

Unloaded I get 28mpg with my triple dog tow/economy setting with Cruise control engaged at 65mph. If I eat a big lunch it goes down to 26mpg. All my jobsite friends are mad. That is with 3.73s and 37"BFG's. Bully Dog allows you to have a three day trial if you go to any of their dealers.

Are you using one of the moniters that guestimate your millege? A friend of mine was getting 26mpg unloaded with an edge EZ, and we didn't believe him and we did it by hand by divided the gallons put in by millege-from a full tank and he found out that it was 4-5mpg off and he found out for sure on the next tank because he ran out of fuel on our way back though Canada and had to get some off of a farmer. SO after that we never believed the moniter again.

Both, I use the overhead monitor which I had recalibraded at the dealer for 37" tires and the fillup, use and track miles, then refill and divide. I did the test loaded to West Texas with a 28' daul tandem with a diesel chevy one ton on the trailer and my over head was off by 1mpg. At 80mph cruise control for 300 miles I only got 10.1 mpg.
