Try doing a search. You'll find a wide variety of answers. Most folks prefer the Fleetguard Stratapore filter. From there - the opinions on oil are across the board. Go for a search.

The stratpore is the filter of choise, but you are going to start a war with the oil question. i think there was a post week before last on petro. vs syn. oil you might check that out.

I use fleetguard microglass filters which are suppose to be a bit better than the Statapore, although I have not seen any evidence to prove this claim.
As far as oil I currently use Petro Canada Duron 15w40 during the summer and Esso XD3 0w40 synthetic in the winter. I use to use Petro Canada Duron 5w40 synthetic, but the Esso was cheaper this year, so I switched.

What ever oil you use, make sure it meets the rating specified in your owners manual. It's either CI-4 or CI-4+. I am sticking with the oil that the truck is delivered with: Valvoline Premium Blue 15w/40. Although it's not really necessary, I'll wait to switch to synthetic until the 30K oil/filter change. At that point, I'll most likely go with the Rotella T 5w/40 synth year round.

Like most folks around here, I use the Fleetguard Stratapore oil filter, as well as their fuel filters.

Schaeffers oil, Mark has the right idea go to www.bobistheoilguy.com. Schaeffers
kicks butt, and is reasonably priced. A $250 buy gets you free shipping & wholesale pricing. Talk to mark msmith@specializedlubricants.net <msmith@specializedlubricants.net>

Carl I believe you were misinformed. The stratapore is fleetguard's premier filter. The microglass is the standard one.

Shell Rotella-T 15wt-40 has done great for myself the last ten years.I know everybody has their own favorites.I still have a 95 Ford PS Im running this oil in along with my cummins.I get six gallon cases from Walmart for forty and some change.Possibly the price won't be deleted.

Since I got 100,000 miles free oil and filter change with my purchase. I'll be using the mopar oil(Mobil) and whatever filter mopar uses. I buy Baldwin heavy duty fuel filters for ever other oil change. The dealer installs it free. The oil change frequency is 6,000 miles.Since I drive about 70 k. per year towing. the free changes save me some money.
