This states an opinion I've long held . The more diesel vehicles are put on the market , the more the demand for diesel and the higher the prices . There is no quick fix for the problem of rising diesel fuel costs .

I may not be able to pronounce his name, but in my book, Csaba Csere is one of the few automotive writers who can deliver a crystal clear message free of the usual "car guy on 'roids" crap that permeates the rest of the automotive press. If he is right, the new diesel offerings will be a resounding failure as potential buyers look at the bottom line and run toward the gassers.

My wife bought a Jeep Liberty diesel in '06 and regrets it every time she fills up . It isn't as bad as she thinks . She gets over 20 mpg which is almost twice what she got with the Durango she traded for it .

Are you sure on the mileage? I get 21 on my 98 Cherokee gasser (combined city and highway). Thats why the D250 has been parked for over a year.

My wifes 01 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the I4.0 gets 15-16 in town and we have seen the best of 18 on the interstate (been the same since we purchased it new) so she's actually wanting a diesel Dodge truck as her next vehicle - we will see where these fuel prices go first though.... :(

Unit44, your wifes mileage is a little better than my truck gets. With diesel at 90 cents over gas my truck would have to get 25 or 26 mpg for me to put it back on the road.

I said over 20 because we got 25 mpg on a 400 mile highway trip . I don't know what she gets around town .
