looking to redo the trucks exhuast system. I need to know what is the hot setup. Is there a gain by simply dumping the Cat converter? I know I may need to relocate O2 sensors etc, but I can fab and weld...Is there a kit that can take care of all this? Or would I simply better off taking it to a local exhuast shop that can bend nice stuff? Also Will I see a decrease in EGT's with aftermarket pipes, given all else is the same? Truck in question is a 01 24 cummins with aftermarket Gauges, new VP-44 and Smarty Downloader, stock pipes, and air filter...

2001 does not have a Cat or 02 sensor, 98.5 to 04's don't have cats or o2 sensor that I know of.

Well anything is better than stock exhaust. As far as size and style that is a matter of opinion.

It comes down to what ever floats your boat, some guys like inexpensive do it yourself type of systems, some guys like the fit and finish of systems from MBRP for instance.

Also depends on if you want 4" all the way back or 4" into 5", if you want it in the stock location, or if you want to pipe it to a stack.

Correct, no o2 sensors or cats to worry about, You should see a slight drop in EGT's.

There are numerous kits that are out there, MBRP, Silverline etc.... or you can have a shop bend one up for you. Which ever fits your wallet the best.

My system is nothing more than plain 5" pipe with a 45* bend behind the axle.
