Best exhaust system to use?
I live in Canada but am driving south for a holiday this winter
(mostly sw states) and was wondering what would be a good exhaust system to put on my truck, and good place to buy? A 4" or 5" and one that is priced reasonably. thanks for your input

Is the 5" really louder? I thought it would just be deeper? I'm thinking about going from my current 4" straight turbo back to a 5" straight turbo back setup, y'all think it will actually be louder? If so rock on!

A 4" turbo back should do you. I have an MBRP aluminized w/ muffler and my truck is plenty louder than stock. Some guys running similar mods may suggest a 5", however, remember that the exit on the turbo is only about 2 1/2".
Your advantage to aftermarket is straight thru flow w/o the constrictions of the bends in the stock system. I went aluminized rather than SS and it still looks new. I paid 325 shipped and got a free 5" SS tip from Orange county Diesel.

I just put on a 5" stainless Magnaflow from a muffler joint in Stoney Creek Ontario.
I went in there to get one of the 50" truck type mufflers you will read about here if your looking for more quiet.. Well they had the Magnaflow on display all shiny and BIG looking, so for $500 out the door, I had my box of exhaust parts, turbo back.
You get an extra length of pipe to fit in depending on the length of the truck, I had to cut mine.*Other than that it just bolts up to the turbo, and hangs on the rubber hangers, then tighten the clamps and your done,,,
They guy told me a tip was extra, but it came with one in the sealed box, so ???? I tacked the pipes with the mig just to make sure they would stay together, and Voila.
Noise is not any louder, but is lower... Sounds more like a big rig, and you can here the turbo more, but not louder... The overhead is also showing 1.5 mpg better???
Good luck.

MY APOLOGIES please... its a 4" not 5
Total was $525.45 Cdn from A&A exhaust in hamilton. To be honest i did not shop around for the system before hand, and you might get it cheaper from one of the sponsors here, It was an impulse buy for me....
Well I went in there about to spend 250 on just a muffler and tailpipe in allumized steel, and saw the stainless magnaflow, and got bit by the bomb bug...
Very easy to install, just need a socket for the two bolts at the turbo, and hacksaw with a really good blade to cut the stainless pipe.. I used a cut off wheel on a mini grinder, but you could do it in the parking lot if you had to,,
I do have a little tire rub from the spare, just when it flex's you can see it bumps the pipe a little, but I dont think it is close enough to cause a problem heat wise...
Good luck..

Yeah the SS systems I was looking at were around 600 bucks US. I went w/ the MBRP aluminized 4" and muffler after researching the guys in the rust belt down here and I figured if it gets 10 years it'll be worth the 325 I spent!

I bought a 4 inch straight pipe system for my truck. I got mine from source automotive, good pricing and service. The system I recieved in the UPS was from Diamond Eye. It went together good and has held up well for the last 2 yrs. It's aluminized, I would have bought stainless but it wasn't in my budget. Before I installed my system I sprayed a few good coats of high temp silver paint on it to protect it a little more from the salt in my area. It sounds alot better than my stock straight pipe did.

farmer13, where in Saskatchwan are you? I know up here there does not seem to be the competition for bombing parts like there is south of the 49th!
Good Luck
