My '01.5 has the stock exhaust and about 179k on it now. I have no performance mods on the engine as far as I know.

What are some opinions on the best exhaust for my truck? I am on a budget, but want a system that will last, look good and sound good. I don't want to wake the neighbors at 1am, but I want more sound than the stocker provides. I would also welcome any power gains provided by a new exhaust as long as EGTs stay in range.

It looks like a pretty nice stainless turbo-back dual 4" system. I didn't see a price listed, but I'm guessing it might be pricey since it is dual and stainless. Any ballpark idea on the price of this system, and whether it is a good option for my "stocker" truck?

Also, I would love to know if a 4" system be better for my stock 245HP engine, or could I run a 5" system (Diamond Eye or any other)?

Besides now being aware of Diamond Eye, I have lately been thinking about the Banks Monster Exhaust systems after seeing a couple of people lately that exhaust system. Does anyone have an opinion on the Banks exhaust?

I picked up a 4" MBRP with a muffler about a month ago and I like how it sounds. It sounds good when you get on the throttle and at idle it just has a smooth sound to it. The motor noise is louder when it idles so it won't wake anyone up that is able to sleep through your truck idling now. I just went with the aluminized pipe because I change my mind so much that I will change it before it rusts out and for about $300 you can't beat it.

banks is really overpriced on most stuff but some of there things are pretty nice a gotta admit. and you can run any diameter exhaust on your rig its not gonna make a difference unless your going for more than 650 horse's id say after that your gonna want a bigger exhaust than 4 inch to keep the egt's down. go with an aluminized 4 or 5 inch exhaust from mbrp they are really cheap and well made. the other rig a had a got an mbrp and it tucked up real nice and the 5" sounds nice. some other people might have different opinions than me but i think a 4" is louder than 5".

I got 4" MBRP in the cheap stainless. Its pretty rusty now. If I were to do it over, I'd get teh aluminized steel. Should hold up the same, and quite a bit cheaper.

I got the aluminized mbrp 4" turbo back and the turbo sound is SWEET at idle. The exhaust is nice and no drone unless towing REALLY heavy without O/D at about 2400 rpm.

What I am hearing is a lot of good stuff about MBRP aluminzed exhausts. They sound economical and of good quality.

I'll search their website. Does anyone have a good link to their aluminized single exhaust?

i went for the good old ebay special .. i got a 5 inch turbo back for 300 and i only had to welded one point at the back. I cut old rear hanger off the back neare the end of the exhaust and welded it to the new one . It almost looks factory

I went through Jegs and got a 4 inch turbo back for 300 also, no welding and it only took me 1 1/2 hours to take old out and put new in.

Ditto to FSP (full spectrum performance). Its been a while but IIRC it was under $400 for my full 5" system with muffler (shipping included). I had a 3" straight before so I know all about loud. With the muffler you dont get the annoying drone and if you want a little more sound you can turn the muffler around. My buddy has a 5" straight on his truck and after taking a ride in mine he is looking at getting a muffler for himself. It still makes plenty of noise when you stand on it.

I didnt buy through their site, I got it through one of their ebay sales. They offer 4" and 5" with or without mufflers.

This is what I went with. I have had it for 4 years now (only 30k miles) and it still looks great. Good fit and quality piece IMHO

I got it a little cheper shipped, but that was 4 years ago.

It was either this or the Banks for more $$. Plus I have never seen anyone else with this exhaust.

Straight pipe. I left the resonator on no drone with BAHF, the turbo whistle quiets down the exhaust to eliminate drone, tos the silencer ring as well. Straight conversion $ 40.00 I think it was for 3 feet pipe a reducer and clamps. BAHF cost of filter, my heatshield alluminium checker plate was free, got added HP on low end and better mileage.
