Best ECU Power Adder?

Hello guys! I just got the 2001 in my signature and am looking at getting some more power. I would like to get whatever device that will allow me to control the most parameters possible. I'm used to using Standalone Engine Managements in imports so programming shouldn't be much of a problem as far a difficulty. Here are some options i have found and was wondering if you guys could tell me which one from your experience is the best to get and what the pro's and con's are.

1) Smarty
2) Edge Juice with Attitude
3) Quadzilla
4) Blue Chip FMS Box
5) Blue Chip Redline Box
6) TST PM3 Competition

I probably have missed some options and if i have can you guys post them up and your thoughts?

Thanks
Chris

Thanks for the quick reply. I will shoot you a PM and see what we can work out. I do have a question though. What is the reason for having to stack programmers? Probably a stupid question but again im coming from the import world where its a bad idea to be stacking ecu's and is better "depending on your intentions" to get either a Piggy Back system which uses all the stock ECU parameters but will allow you to modify fuel, timing, boost and some other things as it intercepts the stock values or a Standalone system which replaces the whole ecu and you basically start from scratch but the benefit being you have full control over everything you could think of.

Is there not a system that can do everything and that is the reason we have to stack them?

Thanks
Chris

Chris, you dont have to stack and there are many options for a box that will do timeing and fuel. The TST is STRICTLY a FUEL only box it adds no timeing and fuels by % of boost that the truck is makeing this = a little sluggish until the turbo builds boost. when you stack it with a smarty on the odd number settings 3 5 7 9 they add the timeing along with a little fuel so you get something that is very aggressive on the bottom "smarty" to help spool the charger and then the TST comes in on the mid to upper rpms and makes for a very strong running truck. I personally like the tst and smarty stack the best out of all of them. I have ran, smarty's, quadzillas xzt and adr, edge ez, comp, and juice, Bluechip FMS, and also the redline and hands down in my opinion the TST/Smarty was the best hands down. I know that alot of people on here have had great luck out of the ADR's but i just didnt care for the one that i ran i had alot of problems out of them..

Ps the tst is rated at 180 RWHP

your truck is a HO and you will not see 180HP. your vp-44 is a limiter on this I like the combo have run it for over 3 years now trouble free the smarty is also great with a larger sticks. your fuel pump needs to be addressed also to keep up with the demand of this box or any box. dont want you to think you are going to get 180 hp out of this alone.

www.tstproducts.com
The adjustable PowerMax3 is adjustable with a remote. Level 0 = stock power, 1 = 20 hp and 40 lb-ft above stock at the ground with each step up equaling about another 15 horsepower (tapering down at the higher levels) and 40 torque at the ground.
Power Level HP Torque
0 0 0
1 20 40
2 35 80
3 50 120
4 65 160 Max for stock automatic trans
5 80 200
6 90 240 Max for stock manual trans
7 100 280
8 110 320
9 120 360
A good rule of thumb is about 120/9 = about 13 HP increase per level.
The PMCE (Competition) adds 180 HP and 450 lb-ft Torque (on level 9) for the standard engine. The HO (High Output) engine (2001-2002) already has 245 HP and the PMCE (Competition) does not make as much of a difference and adds 80HP and 310 lb-ft of Torque.

The PM3 starts cutting back at 3000 RPM. The PMCE (Competition) starts cutting back at 4500 RPM.

just remember any box like this and you will need to looking at upping your air due to egt's the more you add the more you prepare for other pieces to go with. dont know everything on your truck but make sure you have gauges (fuel pressure) reliable fuel pump/pusher fass/airdog etc. good intake to breath and possible look at a turbo pending what your doing with the truck.
good luck

I have used an Edge EZ, and Edge Comp (regular and drag versions) and have ended up with the FMS stacked with my Smarty. I went for the FMS because I found a VERY good deal in the classified section. LOOK THERE FIRST!! The combo I run is similar to the TST/Smarty stack as the FMS is for fuel and the Smarty is for timing (as well as code reading and clearing and tire size adjustment). Now I also have 130hp injectors and a larger turbo, so I needed the combo for different driving scenarios. The Smarty alone on timing allows for great empty cruising with 17mpg and usable cruise control. The FMS is adjustable in cab if I want to play while on the road. Also, the FMS has pyro/boost displays built-in. I have had gauges for years, but it was a nice feature anyway.

Also, don't forget to put a GOOD clutch on your list. You'll need it with minor power adders!

x2 and x3 on the clutch. go with something the first time and be done with it. I didnt I went through SB OFE and FE and now DD3600 this is due to a certain diesel bug. it starts to bite and next thing you know you have a DD. be realistic with what you are doing with the truck.
