I love my Pro Comp Xtreme AT's. They havent shown any signs of wear after 7000 miles. and they came with a 40000 tread warranty. btw, Ron P, I am originally from Yadkinville.

I second the Procomp XAT's. Great tire. Just a little bit of road noice and very good offroad when I have used them.

I should get about 50-60K out of them. Just rotate often.

Thanks,

Jay

I'm gonna go against the grain on the recommendation for pro comps. Had one treadblock seperate from the carcass at 10k miles. I plugged the tire with multiple plugs to get me home, then I had it fixed with a patch on the inside of the tire. When I took it to 4wp, they said they would not warranty the tire because I patched it already myself. Ok, whatever. Next up, I noticed they were wearing pretty quickly, at about 22k miles I went back to 4wp to ask about thier tire prorating. They asked me what kind of driving I did and I told them I drove up and down mountain roads daily. At this point, they told me that was not considered "normal" driving so they would not warranty the tires.... I got a total of about 22k miles out of them before I deemed them not useable. I was not comfortable driving on them in the winters we get here anymore, so I bought some Firestone Destination AT's. Hopefully these tires treat me better. I can tell you I will never buy pro comp tires again, nor will I shop at 4wp again.

I just put on Nitto Terra Grapplers tonight in the 285 and 300 miles so far and the truck seems to ride smoother and quieter than with the BFGs, Can't comment on wear yet.

I have those Nittos also, have really really liked them so far. Pretty good wear since my truck hauls all the time. I have heard the rubber compound is just a little softer, so may wear just a little faster, but I didn't care much about that. Next set looking for just a little more rugged. I would buy them again if I didn't need a bit more rugged of a tire. Ive had the BFG ATs on another truck, liked them, sold the truck not long after so I don't know on ride and wear.

I got a set of the hankook atm 285/70/17 right after christmas and LOVE THEM. They are E-load and 50,000 mile tread wear, no road noise and are good in the snow. PepBoys sells them as a part of there buy three get one free deal as long as they install them. Mine were in delaware and total was 880$ but I sent in a mail in rebate for one tire(201) so total was around 680$ which i think is a steal.

Thumbs up

Im on my 3rd set of Nitto TGs. Two sets in 295/70/17 and now in the 295/70/18s. Nice quiet ride, good traction in all weather, and good (if not great) tread wear. Ive enjoyed them.

Happy with the Nitto Terra Grapplers, here. Good in snow, quiet on dry pavement.

Has anyone tried the 285/70/17 BFG AT with the load range "E" yet? Been thinking about trying them.

I wavered back and forth on going with either Hankook ATM's in the 285's or Firestone Destination AT's in 315's size. I ultimately went with the Firestone's, because they were the size I like, and were a load range E. Only have about 200 miles on them so far, but I am happy.
