In Bed Wiring for Gooseneck
Just recieved my Draw-Tite "Hide-A-Goose" hitch, and wiring kit. I plan to install ASAP has anyone seen a thread for setting up your trailer wiring. I bought the brake controller/adaptor wire, as well as the 7 pin round plug for inside the bed. Was just looking for some pointers on getting this wiring done right the first time.

I used a Reese T Connector and wired to a new Reese 7-pin connector I placed in the bed. The Reese part number 15381. I assume they are still available. This allowed me to wire the new 7-pin connector without splices.

You can get a pigtailed 7pin recepticle at most any RV dealer - - I have even seen them at WalMart. You have good accessability between the fender well and the tailgate on the side wall. Easily done. Be sure to trace down the wires according to the diagram from under the truck, solder the pigtail to the appropriate wire. Took me about an hour to install. Then you are not adding another connection that can mess up by going to the original bumper socket with an adapter. Been there, done that, messed up.

I'm with RC51, in that I really like the predone package that plugs between the factory harness and the factory 7 pin on the bumper.
No cutting/splicing on the factory wiring, and saves a bunch of time.
Valley makes one. Etrailer carries it for like $55.
