Bed height above frame rails?

I am going to attempt to build a flatbed myself... does anyone know how far above the frame rails the stock bed sits? I remember there's some thin square tubing that the bed sits on. I am guessing it's 2 or 3" .. I don't have my old bed to look at...

About 2 inches above the frame and a quarter inch above the stock fuel tank.
