BD R850 Race Track Turbo?
I upgraded in the summer to the R700 race turbo for my BD twins set up. Now I see they have another upgrade -- the R850 race turbo (800 - 1000HP).
Anyone have this?
What's next?

r700s: 600-800hp
r850s: 800-1000hp
and there are variations to each the way some people talk, if you know the right people...
and there are a few people with the r850s that will probably chime in

I have the 850s, what questions do you have?
Last time I checked Malcolm at Harbor City has them on his race truck too.
So far I love these twins, and I havent touched the wastegate at all. I need to get my dual fuelers on to see what they will do.

When the r700 came out they thought it wouldn't be able to tow -- yet it works great for towing in addition to moderate high performance. Now they call it the race/towing turbo combination in their twin set up.
My question is: can the r850 be used for daily driving and maybe some towing? Or is it too large for anything but sled pulling and racing? Is it equivalent to the 480s turbo people use for a bottom turbo? What boost are you getting? How does is spool up?

I will try and hit them all, but if I miss something let me know, I am glad to answer any questions that I can.
I DD my truck with a STOCK CP3 and smarty tnt revo on SW5. No added pressure. I have not towed yet, but would in a heartbeat without any worry. The reason is, I went from an SPS66 that I DD'd and towed with, quite heavy at times (20k+) and there is nothing that the SPS66 did better than these twins. Nothing.
I am very happy with the spool up, I am sure once I turn the smarty up, add some pressure, and get proper fueling for my injectors that spool up should be even better.
Do not quote me, as I may be wrong, but I THINK the bottom turbo is just a few lbs shy of what the 480 puts out. Then again, with BDs info being so top secret, it may be a 480, I really dont know, but I am very happy with these turbos and if you want a set that will make 850-900 and still drive em everyday, this may be the set you need. JMO.

The R700 kit is good for 700hp. The R850 kit is going to be good for 850hp. To get to 1000 with them you are going to need to spray it. That is why we didn't call them the R1000 as they do not flow enough air to do 1000hp on fuel. They do have pretty good street manners but I haven't really had much feedback on towing with the 850s. The R700 kit would be a better setup for towing.
