I am in New York and want to run the biggest batteries possible for the cold. What batteries have you guys run in the cold weather? What about Deep Cycle or Marine batteries?

Costco batterys, 100month warrentee (pro rated after 3yrs) about 100$ Canadian each.
And go to a syn oil for easier winter starting!!

I just replaced mine with Maxx Everstart from Wally world for $75 each with a 3 yr free replacement and 9 yr prorated warranty. Not sure who made the oem batteries in my truck but the date on them was Feb. 1997 for mfg date and I just replaced them this week. Cant find anything showing which of the 3 companies that make batteries actually make the Mopars.

I have always used Delco Batterys. What I have now is the Delco Professional
27-7YR 700CC.

Installed in July of 2004 (2). These are sealed batteries. No way will you ever get any sulfate on the terminals or battery boxes. Last March I left my running lights on from 8am to 6:30PM. I had the generator in the truck and used a 100amp boost to get the truck running. When it started the clock said 1235. I guess that was the official dead time. 6 more hours with the switch on before I started it. Drove it to the campsite, charged the batteries all night on slow.

Still in the truck, starts every time with no lugging. Bad Good Batteries.

Always change both, never change just one.

Do you plan on running them all the way dead?
Most deep cycles like to be run way down before charging if they're going to have a long life.

Group 34 Optima Redtops work great for me in tropical Montana.
Pair I just replaced lasted 12 years and one is still going in a Kubota tractor, the other for an electric fence charger.
Great thing is no corrosion, never cleaned the posts the whole time.
Some people say they don't make 'em like they used to, we'll see.

We have a Cat backhoe we bought new in 1992 and it STILL has the original batteries and starts in the winter. That is the longest I have ever heard of batteries lasting and still going strong

I was in a pinch, and had to get NAPA's, not the best, but I had no choice. But more importantly, my cables were in pretty bad shape. The factory ends were shot, and the cable itself was corroded inside the shielding where it could not be seen. I think, although I could never prove it, that the cables killed the batteries. But who knows, in either event, make sure to check the whole charging system. There is only one thing worse than having to buy new batteries, asking for a jump, with new batteries!!!!

No I have a cousin that can get me a pretty good discount on interstate batteries. I think I'm going to pick up 2 new 900 CCA this week.

Dinner, are you running 2? I thought 2 850s was over kill! my 90 only had 1 950 and it alway started never plugged it in! well it didnt start once but it was -15f and the fuel gelled.

If you are coming up to the cold country have battery warmers and use the 5/16" bungy cord,length enought to make 3 wraps around the battery. I used S/S tie wire and used heat shrink over is so as not to stab myself with it. IT is too much for the single plug but a second plug for the battery warmers works well.
