Basic bonehead diesel help
Hello all,
This is my first post here. Ive read alot and this seems to be bout the best dodge forum ive found. Right now I drive a 98 ford ranger. Im a apprientice lineman and after I get my finances taken care of and buy a house I will be getting a new dodge. Basically Im sold on the cummins.
I want to run fry oil what is the diff between wvo svo and I was thinkn bout making my own heating separate tank. I have searched who makes a good kit i could check out to compare?
Also Im savn up so I can lift it right away when I buy.
Im looking at the rock krawler 8 inch I noticed that there is a pre-runner and a desert racing lift. Does anyone have any info on if this lift will hold up well?
I definatly want a 6 speed I like the idea of a mega cab but im not sure if i can get over the looks of it yet. Ill most likely get 4.10's and plan on running 38's
Also whats the diff between the 2500 and 3500? 1/2 3/4 ton? any power differences?
Any input would be great. Right now Im shopping and looking into the future. Im going to try to stick with the gutless danger for a couple years so Im just studying the dodge aspect and trying to learn about diesel.

You need a two tank system if you plan to run straigh WVO. If you are going to make Bio - Diesel, then you just need one. 2500 3/4 ton 3500 1 ton. Only difference is one leaf spring and manditory cleaence lamps on the 1 ton.

As for the above question. It breaks down like this.
150/1500 = 1/2 ton
250/2500 = 3/4 ton
350/3500 = 1 ton
The above 3 digit numbers apply ONLY to (Dodge) First gen trucks. The 4 digit numbers apply to everything (Dodge) 94 and up.
Discounting the 1500 (1/2 ton) the only major differences between 2500 and 3500 trucks is heavier suspension, and the fact that MOST (not ALL) 3500's are Duallies.
