Banks twin-ram intake
Anyone with the banks twin-ram intake? Is it worth it for the money? Anyone running it with twin turbos? Any advantages or disadvantages?

The only benefit (other than looks) is that it evens out EGTs over all 6 cylinders. It allows better airflow to #6 (and/or #1) so they don't run hotter than the others.

I have one on my 12v and will echo what WBCruzer has already said.I gained zero HP with the addition of the Twin Ram but,it has evened out the egts alot. That alone to me is worth it however I do realize that each ones wallets are vastly different.I got mine used and it was bought due to having been chromed by the original owner,it has more than repaid me already....Andy

In the Twin Ram style of intakes there is only one game in town,Banks. There was a shop out west who was selling a version like them a few years ago but I have seen nothing of them since.Best to spool through the classifieds or Ebay and see if you can find one used if the money hits your wallet too hard. The is a place(Amendolaro Enterprises) on Ebay that sells them fairly reasonable and they have stuff on there all the time.......Andy

You're telling me that the Twin Ram for $575 on ebay is actually considered reasonable? WOW! (i'm not being sarcastic) Who is Banks kidding? Their product doesn't really do anything and you can get a torque converter for that much...

if you reread my post I said,IF your wallet doesn't mind also.It depends on what your looking for out of the intake as to inherent cost factor. Before the intake install under load on the dyno I seen 1600 in the front 3 and 1750 in the rear 3 cylinders(had a exhaust restriction in my Garrett which we found later and corrected). The install of this manifold alone evened out the egts to the point where the difference was minimal between the cylinders. That alone was reason enough for me to say its worth it,IF you desire to spend the money for it.By no means is it a bargain nor is any of Banks overpriced parts. For what I paid for it,$200, it was a bargain to me......Andy

It was on my truck when i bought it, and I like it alot. But to go out and spend all that money on it is pretty crazy. It looks good, prolly spreads Egt's out better, but not enough to choose it over injectors, turbo, TQ, VB, water/meth, etc.....

Can someone who has the twinram give some specs on the manifold itself? I assume the front inlet is in the stock location. How far behind is the other inlet? Does the plate bolt in place of the stock piece? And how did the grid heater seperation and wiring work/affect starting? I want one on both of my trucks simply to cool the back cylinders, but refuse to pay $1k plus for them. If possible, I'd like to fab up my own from round tubing and make a plate to mount them. A friend of mine has a TIG welder, and I figured it would be a great way to learn. Could screw up a couple times and still be way ahead of the Banks price....

I'v been toying with the idea of fabing one myself. The heater grid question is the only thing stoping me right now. I was wondering if I would need a 2nd double grid system for it to work as well as it does now or if putting one grid in each inlet would work . I don't think the elec. system could handle a second grid system. It gets too cold around here to have it not work as well as it does now.
