banks system install
I am thinking about getting the banks system for my 03 auto.
I know there are many options for what to buy for fuel boxes but the banks seems to be the easy one to install, etc.
Has anyone installed the six gun package? Any tips on how to install and gotcha's!
Any thoughts on if you would do something different?
Right now Banks has a deal of $1994 total shipped to the door for the whole bundle. Has anyone come across a better price?
Thanks,
Don

Banks Six-Gun Bundle... that's a six gun, SpeedLoader, 4" stainless exhaust, 5" tip, new wastegate actuator, a K&N replacement filter, and gauges.
A TST with built-in gauges is $850. 4" SS exhaust w/ 5" tip is $650. TST includes an elbow that does the same thing as the Banks BigHead. An AFE drop-in filter (better quality than the K&N) is $80. That's $1580... maybe $60 in shipping. You'll get a much better product, and save almost $400.
As for ease of installation, no, Banks is probably the most difficult (although still easy on an absolute scale) box to install. With the Banks setup, you have the gauges to install, seperate from the box itself (you'd need two thermocouples with the Banks kit - one for the EGT gauge, and one for the SpeedLoader de-fueling). The TST has the gauges built-in... you mount the remote and you're done. With the TST, you unscrew a stock boost elbow and screw their's in. With Banks, you have to remove the wastegate actuator and install theirs. As far as the exhaust goes, it's a wash... they're all a pain to install

I put the six gun bundle in my 05 about 2 weeks ago. One thing to think about is that you can order form dealers and get better prices i got mine for 1500 banks wanted 1900 to the door. I couldnt piece one together for that much by the time i paid shippingfrom 2 or 3 places. exaust is about 100 to 150 shipped that was the best price i could find but i didnt check with tst. if you are getting the bundle there is only one thermocouple to install because it comes with the banks guages. if you want diff guages then you need two thermocouples. My banks runs ok and the temps are very good 1250 is about as hot as i can get on level 6 w/speed loader. Banks seems to be a moderate tuner but that is what i wanted to pull trailers and try to keep as much reliability as possible. my 03 has 40,000 now and i put banks on it at 8000 and it has never had problem one. on my 05 i had two codes at the start but found a faulty conection at the box. everything seems good now. just my opinion of course but still shop around im sure you can find a better price oh ya and i bought a cat eliminator pipe included in that price. I believe it was epi perfomance in Florida not 100% sure but I think that was them. if you look around im sure other places will cut a better deal as well.

Thanks for the info. I looked into the TST. Very nice box and does not raise the fuel pressure. Big bonus!!
I could not find the exhaust you talk about on their website. It is aluminized and not SS plus does not mention the elbow.
Where can you buy the AFE drop in?

The boost elbow comes with the TST box... download the installation instructions from TST's website, and you'll see it in the photos.
As for the AFE drop-in... back to that search engine. Do a Google or Yahoo search for "Dodge Cummins AFE filter".

As far as install, it not too hard except for the running of the main cable thru the firewall where Banks suggest you run it. after that the rest is as easy as the rest of them.
the only real drawback that I see is that yo can't remove it to take the truck to the shop
