The Stinger Plus is a good choice on 12 valves, for 24 valves you can do better elsewhere.

IMHO You can buy your own mods seperately cheaper and learn more about your truck in the process. If you are looking to take your truck somewhere and have someone put everything on for you and pray you like it then get the Banks system. If you want to know your truck and upgrade it yourself read this site and your eyes will be open. However to answer your question you will gain power. As for fuel efficiency I couldnt tell you. I havent seen too many Banks kits on Dodges mostly Ford's and they seem ok. Again my 2 cents.

Welcome to the site.

I agree with RamTech - "You can buy your own mods seperately cheaper and learn more about your truck in the process".

I originally had the Banks Powerpack System plus the Power Elbow.

I made my decision to buy on the fact that "everything is engineered to work together". The package is complete, so you are not buying parts from different sources, putting them together and hoping that they play well together. Banks does provide a nice package - it has good instructions and everything fits well. All parts were included and nothing else was needed. (There is a part of the manual that needs to be revised - it seems a little out of order).

Eventually the Ottominder (I think) began acting strangely. Boost would drop and temperatures would climb.

So it was time for a change. In fairness to Banks I did not contact them or try to trouble shoot it with them.

I don't like the Ottominder or the gauges and would not recommend them. The Ottominder is not adjustable (at that price why not?). The gauges run through the Ottominder so if you want to change one you must change both!

The High Ram Intake looks nice but since everything is under pressure I don't imagine it does anything one way or another (some claim it hurts).

I like and still have the exhaust system, Power Elbow and the 14cm wastegated exhaust.

I do not know about the new Six gun or what ever they call it.

If I had it to do over I would probably buy the Banks exhaust system, maybe the Quick Turbo system, possible the Power Elbow, and possible the High Ram.

Rod at Wildcat has been very helpful and I use him as my vendor of choice. Other members here have had good luck with other vendors.

I am currently running the parts in my signature. In total it costs less than I spent on the Banks system and I am a lot happier with it.

Take your time in making your decision.

I got very close to going with some Bank's products. However, I did a fair amount of research here and other places, and have not used anything from them except the Monster Exhaust (which is slowly being removed due to other upgrades).

The exhaust systems from them are quite exceptional with respect to materials, fit & finish, and (however) price.... After conducting my research, I will not be using anything else from them.

I will also go on record as stating that my personal experience with their customer service stinks.

Now - from what I have heard - Mr. Banks is a legend and deserves that recognition. The company that bears the name is a different story.

By all means read bunches before reaching for the wallet!

It looks like you've already started your research by joining DTR. This is a good first step.
The more research you do, the happier you will be.

Ask yourself what kind of power/fuel economy are you after?
Then call Banks, ask them questions, then call others and ask more questions.
Check out all of our vendors, they'll be glad to talk to you and answer questions.

Then, draw up your own conclusions about what fits your budget and will work best for you.

Chances are, no matter which vendor you go with, you will have lots of

I'm using Wildcat as my favourite supplier of go-fast goodies and DTT for that former slushbox thingy. If you have an auto you'll definitely have to do something about it for the stock AT isn't up to par with increased torque and HP. If you have a manual tranny you'll have to look for a new clutch at least.
The right way to bomb is to buy gauges first and have a look at all the stuff that's in there to have everything in good working order. (Lift pump etc)
Check your truck for codes first too!
Then I'd say you can start with the performance package.
As said- transmission first. Be honest to the vendor about your plans.
Then some box- I like my Edge Pulse, but I'm shure I'd like a comp even better (or a drag comp )
You'll see where your EGT's are then- an exhaust (for the cool big rig sound and lower EGTs) and a good air intake (I like my Scotty2) are good to keep temps in check. This should get you to reliable 270-300rwhp without reducing fuel efficiency. (Usually it gets a bit better when you stop driving like a madman grinning for the joy of the newfound power)

It's very important to read a lot (and from different sources) since each supplier has his own philosophy- and that might just suit me fine and be pure horror for you.

Either the Power Pack or Stinger plus shoudl give you more power with better fuel mileage. We can also put together custom power packages with Di-Pricol gauges and your choice in power chips, exhaust and even a Turbo Air Guide (TAG).

I would say that banks makes a Great exhaust-- perhaps the best. Check out how their downpipe transitions to the full 4" size-- it's the most gradual transition on the market. A great exhaust.

It's the only Banks product I would buy, though. The rest seems like good marketing rather than good value. You can get a lot more for your money elsewhere. Also, the full powerpack won't give you as much power as you can find on your own for about half the money.

OK, so I hate to druge this up (Poor, poor horse) but....

Tonight I was offered a "Banks Sponsorship". Basically, I am fairly well known around here, and this business feels that I would be a good canidate for their advertising, I'm sure.

I have a 2001 2500 2WD 4.10s LSD, no Guages, Straight Piped, Edge Comped (Always on 5x5) and so people know my truck.

This company wants me to run their stickers, and in return I get a Power Pack ($$$) and Exhaust Brake, both free, including installation.


Would you let them do it? I know I don't want to lose my Edge Comp, and so I guess that means I can't run the Ottomind, or can I? I know i need guages, and while racing last fall, I smoked my clutch. After several months of playing nice, it seems to be ok, but I know that a South Bend is in order, soon.

So what do you guys think?

Nothing against Banks (although I went with other vendors) or Banks vendors...

I had DiPricol gauges for a few years, and had a very hard time reading them. I kept thinking that I would switch to AutoMeter gauges, then the trans temp gauge died (still worked, but the screws came out of the face) then the pyrometer died. Two of the three I bought (boost still worked) lasted about three years - junk in my opinion.

I went with AutoMeter white faced Phantoms and I'm MUCH happier.

Considering what you already have, there is no way I would do that. Unless of course they wanted to buy another truck to install it on for me!

Free is good - although I have found there is truth in the old saying "there is no such thing as a free lunch". So where is the hook?

I would find out how long they expected you to display their signage, then try to to strike a deal to run their exhaust, exhaust brake, high ram and of course their signs.

Then I would buy a set of ISSPRO gauges and call it good for awhile.
