has anyone tried one this time of year you can buy at a very good price

I would get a converter from Goerend, Suncoast (via Dusty @ HTS), DTT, or Dunrite instead. These guys really know what they're doing and have reasonable prices. Goerend even gives a lifetime warranty on his TC's!
