Question Ball Joint Press

Looking at buying a ball joint press kit, i want a good one but not sure which one to get. What have you guys used that works on the 4x4 2500's ? Will this work without buying anymore adapters ? http://www.automotivetoolsonline.com...1_p_12980.html

I hope I am not hijacking this thread. I have an adjustable track-bar sitting in my barn that needs a new ball joint. Is that kit what I need to remove the old one and press in a new one?

You bet it will work,as long its a pressed in balljoint......Its got the different round fittings....I got mine on sale at Princess Auto a few years back...I think it was only $60 on sale...I beat the heck out of it pretty badly..Still ok...

I was hoping someone had this exact kit and could tell me if it would work on the 2500's. Don't want to spend that much money if it needs more adapters.

I thought about buying one, but then I thought how often would I use it?? I borrowed one from Advance Auto Parts. Basically you pay for it , then return it and you get your money back. I had to make one adapter out of a piece of pipe. Also if you are going to replace your ball joints, check the DTR wiki under third generation. There is a good article there and a lot of it applies to your model.

It's hard to tell from the picture but it looks like it's for smaller vehicles. I've done ball joints on a 2500 recently and my kit from Harbor Freight worked flawlessly. So far I've done ball joints on my diesel excursion, a 2500 and my F250. It also works great on u-joints. I was also using an impact! Price was way less than the one posted. Just my 2 cents!

I used that writeup when I did mine. It sure was a great help. Especially the socket trick using the power steering to apply pressure. I used lots of penetrating fluid on mine. The pictures were helpful when I was trying to select which pieces I needed to get the ball joint in/out.

Hello,
Thanks you for the recommendation. Is there a smaller set that specifically for
the 2004+ with the AAM axle that I can get. THis is intended for my truck only and I
do not need all the extra pieces that came with the 6539-2 plus set. I already have the
the C-frame press from another set. Thanks you in advamce for the advice.
