Hey guys I have seen some discussion on here about ball joints. I haven't heard of any comparrisons between the Carli Design and the Dynatrac design. I know the Carli Lowers are scheduled to be available at the end of November. I also know that Dynatrac's ball joints are new to the market. Both claim to be more robust than factory ball joints. Both seem to be similar in design. Meaning they are both using a higher grade material (both are a 4130 or 4140 steel which is superior to the factory units). Both are greaseable. Both claim that these will be the last ball joints that you will ever have to buy. I know Carli products are very good quality and everyone loves them. I am also under the impression that Dynatrac makes good quality products based on a conversation with Don Thuren. My question is are Carli's ball joints worth the extra cost? Carli's cost $1100 for a set of uppers and lowers. Dynatrac is roughly half of that. Should I beat myself up about chosing between them or will either of these work well and last a long time? Cheaper versions like XRF are currently out of stock and won't be available for about a month. Several people have advised against MOOG brand so that is out of the question. Dynatracs are currently on back order for a few more weeks. Carli's lowers won't be out until the end of the month. Any input based on product design? I need to replace mine due to factory units being worn already at 58,000 miles. I don't want to have to replace these again any time soon. I spend 90% of the time driving on the street. I am running 35" tires. I am currently leaning towards the Dynatrac ball joints based on price and company reputation.

I plan on getting the Dyna's once my stockers are shot. I can't justify 1100 bucks for a set of ball joints.

$1000.00 bucks for ball joints..........how much HP increase do they claim you get? There comes a time when you gotta say enough is enough. $1100.00 for ball joints is on of those times.

i'll be ordering a set for dynatrac around march. i like how they are stronger than stock and are rebuildable. i'll be in there anyway upgrading my hubs to the manual ones so i'm gonna take care of the known issues while i'm there.

I have kept my ball joints lubed by injecting grease into the rubber boot with a needle. No water crossing or salt here so they should last a long time.

Dynatracs are currently being recalled. How do I know? Because I installed them about a month ago and now have to take them out and send them back to Dynatrac per they're request. They won't tell me what the problem is w/the ball joints and I haven't had any issues w/them, but, they insist that I need to return them. Dynatrac sent me some Moogs to replace them with in the meantime. And since they won't tell me what is wrong with them, truck is pretty much down until I find the time too swap them out.

The Carli's are looking better. Extensive real world testing or Sage won't put is name on them.

***! That's huge if they want you take it out. Are they throwing you any extra cash to do this?

He's working on a big order and may be able to lower the price some. Sounds like a very labor intensive job along with an alignment. I'd be nice to do it once instead of every few years. Looks like Dynatrac didn't do $550 worth of homework.

Just got back from Dynatrac, a 45 min drive for me. I bought the free spin kit from them and feel good about it. This plant is not a small operation. If you ever need a part for one of their units, it's as good as in the mail. They make everything right there and the casting is done a few miles from them not oceans away. All of their products are top of the line made to make your truck better and stronger. If you call, they always answer, usually Steve or Dan, they know their products and have no problem telling you about them. I asked them about the ball joint recall. A total of 20 ball joints were recalled, not every one ever made. Did anyone call them to ask about the extent of the recall? They do their own testing and that small group did not come out as they insist on seeing. I don't work for them and I don't know any of them. I know their products are made here in the States and that's where I live. Buying products made here keeps jobs here and the money stays here.
Replacing the front hubs is not like replacing the grill. I want het best holding my front tires on the truck.
