Does anyone know what signs you get when a relief valve goes bad? I think mine is bad, and the valve opening and closing very fast.

I would like to know if there is a sign or noise that the valve makes when its bad or going bad?

I THINK it will leak diesel, I have heard in really bad cases it will spray diesel over the whole engine compartment.

if your valve is bad it will be hard or imppossible to start your truck, and you will have low power due to the fuel going back to the tank

The noise you will never hear. Other signs are hard starting, low power, excessive black smoke, high EGT's with no changes to fueling.

You can test it by pulling the banjo bolt and return line and checking for fuel bypassing.

Chris you could do what I did to know it is not a problem. I would recommend getting a rail press gauge though. Let me know if you want one. Tim
