Don't forget to check tire pressure--if your tires are low they can create a lot of rolling resistance, bumping the mpg way down. How are you getting bad gas mileage with a diesel anyway?

WHat about a fuel filter?
WOuld this be cause for it too?
How about your trans if you have an auto? is your tq converter slipping? That might cause some loss in mpg!

Mine is TERRIBLE as well. So I will let you know as soon as I figure out why. Tire pressures are 65 front and 70 rear. Power service is used. Air filter is clean, and its still getting about 10 or 11 mpg city. Could be winter fuel mixture? but thats what the additive is supposed to fix right? I just switched fuel brands. My next trouble shoot attempts will be fuel filter replacement and put in 5w40 synthetic oil. The idiots at the chrysler place put 5w30 synthetic in there but I wouldnt think that would bring down mpg since its thinner. Then if thats not helping I will be have to have the trans serviced and adjusted. Not the fuel pump is it? I would think since Im burning lots of fuel that its pumping plenty of fuel?

I always take a hit in mileage when it goes to winter fuel. It gets thinned out, and has less energy per volume. Additives help it keep from gelling, but won't get your lost mileage back.

Speed in excess of 60 mph will KILL your mileage also.
It's a pickup truck with all the aerodynamic qualities of the average brick, not a Lamborghini.
Running down the road at 80 will reduce your MPG by quite a few MPG.

yes its fuel, when you put fuel in it you go to a fueling station. check fuel filter, check air filter, fill out your sig.so we know what you have going on.i get better than that.sounds like you need to do a tuneup.

well mine is up to 13 in the city, now that Im not having to idle in the mornings. I plan on changing the fuel filter here in a few weeks and hopefully that will add a few more. I get great MPG in OD but those other gears are gobbling up the fuel Stop lights every few blocks means I hardly ever get passed 3rd gear. At least when I go to work at 530am the roads are pretty empty so Im able to run at reasonable speeds without having to stop at the lights since they stay green unless a car is coming from the other direction

When was the last time you had the fuel filter checked/changed?
I'm getting 20-22 mpg in mixed driving and only a very slight drop during the winter. And thats with a Gale Banks Performance kit.
