Back to the auto trans

Ok, I asked this before and mostly all I got was "convert to 47rh."

My Question is can a 518 be rebuilt to take a lock up TC? I have the chance to buy a parts truck CHEAP. I could rebuild it to take the TC and tear down my truck until its ready. I know I would still have to secure starter/flexplate/rear adaptor from a second gen.

Second question is what controls lockup? I dont want a toggle switch in the dash or anything like that, I want lockup/unlockup to happen automatically on its own.

I would consider doing a manual swap if I could find the donor truck.

Decisons Decisions

Don't quote me on this but I think the 518 can be built for lockup but it's not worth the money or time.

And I remember reading that you can rig it up for where lockup runs off the gov. weights in the trans or something like this so there is no toggle switch.

Yes you can build it for lock up it is worth it imo and you can run the LU control off gov pressure very easy.
