I came across this turbo CHEAP. It appears to have a cracked center houseing. I have rebuilt turbos before but i really dont know much about these turbos. It came off of an 04 i was gunna put it in my truck but gunna fix it first. Just looking for some info on these turbos and what u guys think about it going on my truck?

There were 4 models of B-1's.....
KSB1B (KSB1-2) - 400 hp
KSB1 (KSB1-1) - 425 hp
B1B (B1-2) - 475 hp
B1 (B1-1) - 500 hp
They were the first of the high Hp turbos...back before twins and when 400 hp was impressive, and 500 hp was way up there on a CTD.
They were the latest and greatest around 2000.
You'll notice the -2 and -1? This specifys your turbine WHEEL size.
The KS (Kwik Spool) or no KS specifies turbine housing size.
The Full B-1 (B1-1) is, IMO, to big and laggy for an Automatic, on the street.
Very strong turbos, with oversized shafts. But I don't think they were marked for model size so... may be hard to tell which one your looking at??

Correct! All started out as Borg Warner S300's .... modified with better seals and stronger shafts for higher rpm! Safe, but not necessarily efficient, up to 60 psi boost!
Also, most were not waste gated...so sticking to published HP level was important.... unless you go with an external WG.
I ran my KSB1 up to 500 hp with a Tial 38mm external WG. Held it at 42 psi and worked very well.

you forgot a model that is available,
I had a TAD B1-04 which is actually designed for the 3rd gen trucks( it had a cast in compressor outlet elbow like our stockers)
the shafts are not different than a run of the mill S300 but the wheels are different.
