What would be stronger a 32 or 35 spline axle?

The 35 spline shaft is stronger as it has a larger diameter of 1.50" compared to the 1.40" (I think - can't remember the exact OD) 32 spline shafts.

What is the reason for swapping from 35 to 32 spline? There is a notable difference in strength.....while the strength difference is nominal for stock applications, the strength difference could be a factor when playing with a bombed CTD.....of course, how you use and drive the truck is a factor, also! Some of us are much harder on our rigs than others!

Well i went to get a posi unit for my truck which is a 35 spline and i went to put it in a found out the hard way that the guy gave me a 32 spline unit. so he wanted to trade my axles for 32 ones and that way it would work ( he didn't have a 35 spline unit). But i took it back and got my money back im going else where with my business the guy was being an about it when i told him i want money in return since im giving my better axles for crappier ones and he got a Pi$$y so i just got my money back but i appreciate the help. Now i just need to try and find a place where i can get another posi unit...... im in ONtario Canada and there doesn't seem to be much here availible so not sure what im gonna do

if you have the dana 80 and want a selectable locker, IE: arb, go with the dana 70HD with 35 splines. That is what I had to do in my truck. The dana 80 arb wouldnt set up right. It needs a thick ring gear and the aftermarket doesnt have one yet for our truck. You just have to drill your ring gear bolts from 7/16th" to 1/2" I believe. Directly from ARB
