The early autos came with 3.07's, so 3.42 shouldn't be a problem. Axle pearch location is likely different with the GM axle though. Why not run Dodge/Dana axles that bolt right in?

hey-Hey!!!,
Without an overdrive 3.07 ratio is about it if you plan to drive the highway with anything resembling stock tire circumference. I've got a 2WD 3.07'd 6 spd and like it very much...wouldn't trade its legs for anything.
