The truck shifts from 2WD to 4WD fine, but when i shift back to 2WD it doesent unlock the front for a while then it clunks really hard, i can feel it under my left foot, whats causing this? If i wiggle the wheel back and forth sometimes it will unlock alot faster and usually without the clunk. Should i avoid putting it in 4WD? Today was by far the worst one yet, i locked it in at a light to pass someone and when i put it back in 2WD it took about 4 blocks and then a huge clunk and it was back to normal.
Thanks, Fred.

your's is vacuum operated and switches vacuum on eacc side of a diafram to disengage or ingage the two wires on it are for the 4wd light on the dash most of the troubles have been the vacuum lines and most of the time near the tire area have had a couple of problems with the forks and coupler but always able to repair with out buying a new one. now is a good time to buy a kit from geno's garage that let's you shift into 4wd low and not ingage the coupler once you back a trailer around the yard in 2wd low reverse you will never give it up

yeah, well im not too worried about the fact that it takes time to unlock, its just the clunk that bothers me, it feels kind of the same as if you were spinning the back tires and pulled it into 4wd
