Auxilliary fuel tank

Auxilliary fuel tank
I went and picked my 1999 Dodge 24 valve today from Pensacola Fuel Injection Shop where it got an injector pump, a lift pump and a fuel filter. On the way home it ran normal again (it was missing and had no power before I put it in the shop) using the fuel from the stock fuel tank so I decided to switch my toggle switch to my auxilliary tank and it started missing and smoking, switched it back to the stock tank and it picked up and ran fine, tried the aux. tank a couple of more times and it didn't run right as before. My question, Do I have dirty or contaminated fuel in the aux. tank? I don't know how much fuel is in it as I have no gauge for it. What I have done in the past is just run it on aux. (100 gal tank) until it quits and then switch it to the small tank and start looking for fuel station. I figured that way I would keep the fuel rotated. Did I screw up? Many Thanks, Sonny

I had the same problem. I have a J-hook pickup tube I made myself comes to the top of the tank to a couple 90deg bends than through an aux. filter. Well I start taking stuff apart and at my 90deg bends there is a bunch of crap got caught in them. Acted like it was running out of fuel but the tank was full. So I think I need to come up with some kind of wire mesh screen.
How is yours setup? Check your lines for any blockage.
