Auxillary fuel tanks

I read on here that the tanks that gravity feed into the factory tank work very well. I just read on a truckbed mfg. website that these can cause error codes in the computer due to it reading full for long periods of time. Any of you guys had problems with this? I had decided to go that route, but now I'm not sure.

I have the RDS 51 gallon with tool box on my 03 - - never had a problem. I have (maybe should say "had" since they changed the website) with pictures in Tech articles about hooking on up. RDS has an installation kit that makes the task duck soup. Love mine.

logically, if it does set a code, it would reset when you shut it down and restart, but i can't see a code being set... there are a lot of drivers out there that don't shut it off while refueling

I took it that they meant the gauge staying on full for so long before it burned down to what was in the factory tank was setting the error codes off. I don't think they meant during refueling, but I'm not sure. it may have been a ploy to sell fuel tanks!

I have a RDS 37 gal. tank and found the first time I used it while the oem was full it threw a code after 40 miles or so. I stopped and turned off the tank and the code reset within 15 miles. Now I turn on the aux. tank when the oem tank is below half or when I'm done for the day and have had no more problem with codes.
