Autotrans Rebuild???

Autotrans Rebuild???
so has anyone rebuilt an auto tranny with upgrades, and with any problems..
im at a loss here.. as im slowly crawling back out of my debt. im still putting my
sore transmission around everyday. but 2nd gear is now almost non existant! i can no longer tow my trailer. and camping in the desert hurts.
how hard/long would it take for an actuall rebuild to take.. im very inclined mechanicly. but was wondering on special tools etc too. i cant afford a professionally rebuilt one . and wont for at least 6 months. and i swear if my dads ridgeline wins one more time, im gonna run it over!
also where to get a rebuild kit and upgraded valve body..
is it worth it. or should i wait till i can actually afford a professionally rebuilt tranny?
i dont want to park my truck. i have a bad fear of tiny cars. dont ask!
i guess if i learned one thing.. ya get a lot better mileage if you keep your foot out of it.
thanx in advance

In my situation (being in Europe) DTT was very helpful to me. - I'd say call Bill Kondolay and spell out your problems.
About 2nd gear being almost nonexistant- have you adjusted the bands yet- maybe a little rise of the line pressure (using a gauge to determine the pressure now and then adjust according to the factory manual) and new fluid can help you to make it shift OK for the next year or so.
I did my first 47RE with a helper within 2 days from the truck going on the lift to the road test.

I'm rebuilding my own core soon. Looks like I'll be in the hole about $1800.00. That's convertor, all clutches/steels, seals, pump, all thrust washers, all bearings, kickdown band, valve body upgrade pieces.

alpineram: yeah it been an ongoing ordeal for 8 months.. check, recheck , adjust, changed sensors, watch fluids, etc. its just worn out. i personally put 80,000 hard abusive miles on it. between work and play..

This is a very popular question. I would wait until you can afford a BTS, alot of people I know have rebuilt their trannies and been right back in the same situation with a blown tranny. Do it right the first time.
