I do about 40,000KM a year towing a 5th wheel. Should I have gauges and if so what would every one suggest. I have the 5.9L with the 48RE tranny in a 2003 Quad Cab long Box 2WD

I would get Trans temp, Pyro and Boost. Phantom, Ultra Lite, or Z series.

I was set on getting autometers but... Auto meter want close to $150-$250 for a FP gauge! That's insane!

Check out the DiPricol's they are cheaper in price but the quality is great.

Take a look at my picture gallery... I got that set for just at $300 for everything...!

I was set on the Lunar series...and bought 'em. they're just so nice lookin! I couldn't find any gauges for cheaper that I wanted.

I was qoute by a shop in Boise for a set of Autometer (forgot what series) but I was quoted $640.00 for the Fuel pressure (Mech), Pyro (0-1600*F), Boost (0-30 PSI) -

Another parts house want close to $550.00....

I only paid $309.xx for the Dipricol set...

I will admit that autometer make a great looking gauge sets. Just there prices are high!

Yes you need them even with a stock truck if you're pulling that much weight you will be amazed at the temps.

The reason the Auto Meters are higher for fuel pressure is they are an electric pressure gauge, while the DiPricol is a mechanical gauge. Pros and cons to both types, but the Auto meter has a sender and wiring harness and is also "Stepper Motor" movement. The gauge needle is operated by a tuny micro electric motor, the accuracy is the best, but the cost is the down side. Basically all the Auto Meter fuel pressure gauge are built internally just like the Cobalt, C2, Lunar and Nexus gauge lines, they are all stopper motor operated. Auto meter stepped up to the plate on the fuel pressure gauges no matter what line they are built to look like and made them stepper motor designs.

The DiPricol is a great product, we are one of the first to start selling them in the 90's. You should ge an isolator with them (don't want to start a war here, just posting what the manufacturers reccomend, which by the way if they smell diesel or any fuel in a defective gauge they will not honor the warranty). Plus if eliminates the potential for a possible fire ( I know, you can hold diesel to a flame and you have to make it promises to get it to light up) and if nothing else keeps the smell of diesel out of the cab. I love the smell of diesel, but the Missus ain't a gonna go there!!! So by the time you get a DiPriocol at 35.00, plus an isolator at 79.99, it' still 1/2 price of the Auto Meter but it does give you options etc.

I'll be real honest here, I don't like my Autometer Z series gauges very much!! I have a DiPricol fuel pressure gauge and it looks 100X better at night than the Autometers. I would have gotten the Dip. gauges all the way around, but DPP was out of the Pyro so I got the others
