Automatic Trans Questions
Hey Guys,
My Dad just bought a '98 4x4 dually with a 12 valve motor and automatic transmission. Both of us have owned Cummins trucks for several years now, but never an auto. Anyhow he is telling me that the truck seems to kick out of gear going down hills (rpms drop and it seems like the truck is coasting). Is this normal? Also the transfer case sometimes kicks out of 4wd on the first try, but if you put it back it stays. Should I check the linkage or could this be internal?
Thanks

If you completely "lift" your foot, the TC unlocks and it does "freewheel". About the t-case, I would pull it into 4 wheel then hold the lever for a second or two while moving forward and see if that helps.
