Auto Trans

How are the new auto transmission holding up. I have been thinking about trading my 2001 6 speed in on a new truck a auto trans .

Hi Chuck,

Welcome to DTR!

The new trannys are holding up fine with stock power. If you want to start bombing your truck you may want to upgrade the torque converter and valve body.......or the whole trans with big mods. A new tq converter will put alot more of the power to the ground, so I hear. I am trying to save to have mine fully built.

I haven't heard much about breakage with the 48re. All I remember is a problem with them not wanting to go into OD soon enough. If you start putting lots of power to it, you will still need to upgrade it with aftermarket parts eventuallly...
